Scorpio's Mythological Origin Connects Directly to the Hunter Orion
In Greek mythology, the giant hunter Orion boasted he would kill all the animals on Earth. Gaia, the Earth goddess, sent a scorpion to sting him, leading to his demise. Both Orion and Scorpius were placed in the sky, positioned so they never appear together.
