The annual Umhlanga Reed Dance is a vibrant cultural spectacle where thousands of unmarried Swazi maidens gather to cut reeds and present them to the Queen Mother. This ancient tradition celebrates chastity and womanhood, culminating in a colorful dance ceremony.

Eswatini stands as one of the few remaining absolute monarchies globally and the last in Africa. The King rules by decree, holding ultimate power over the executive, legislature, and judiciary, a system deeply rooted in Swazi tradition.

In 2018, King Mswati III officially changed the country's name from Swaziland to Eswatini, meaning "place of the Swazis." This change coincided with the 50th anniversary of independence, restoring its pre-colonial name.
