In Greek mythology, the giant hunter Orion boasted he would kill all the animals on Earth. Gaia, the Earth goddess, sent a scorpion to sting him, leading to his demise. Both Orion and Scorpius were placed in the sky, positioned so they never appear together.

This fierce bull, sent by Poseidon and later driven mad by Hercules, is sometimes associated with the constellation Taurus, representing its formidable power and untamed nature.

In Greek myth, these sisters were pursued by the hunter Orion and were placed among the stars by Zeus for their protection. This famous cluster is also known as the "Seven Sisters."

This disguise allowed the king of the gods to charm the Phoenician princess Europa, carrying her across the sea to Crete where he revealed his true form. This myth is a primary origin for the constellation Taurus.
