Produced in Slutsk from the 18th to 19th centuries, these exquisite sashes were a symbol of status for the nobility of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Each belt was a work of art, featuring intricate patterns and vibrant colors, and could take months to create.

Extracted from thousands of murex snails, producing even a small amount required immense labor and resources, making it prohibitively costly. This exclusivity led to sumptuary laws restricting its use to emperors and high-ranking officials.
