The Critically Endangered Bermuda Petrel, or Cahow, Was Rediscovered After 330 Years
Thought extinct for centuries, the nocturnal seabird was miraculously rediscovered in 1951 by a young Bermudian naturalist, David Wingate. Intensive conservation efforts have slowly helped its population recover from just a handful of breeding pairs.
