Belize Celebrates the Vibrant Garifuna Culture, Recognized by UNESCO

The Garifuna people, descendants of African and indigenous Carib and Arawak populations, arrived in Belize in the early 19th century. Their unique language, dance, and music were proclaimed a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" in 2001.
