Honey Found in Egyptian Tombs Is Still Edible After 3,000 Years

Archaeologists excavating ancient Egyptian tombs have found honey that is over 3,000 years old and still perfectly edible. Honey's low water content (below 17%), acidic pH of around 3.9, and naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide create conditions in which bacteria cannot grow.
