Some Female Snakes Can Reproduce Without a Male Through Parthenogenesis

Several snake species including boa constrictors and copperheads are capable of facultative parthenogenesis — producing offspring without fertilization. Female snakes can do this when isolated, essentially cloning themselves, though offspring have reduced genetic diversity.
