Geckos' Feet Use Van Der Waals Forces To Stick To Surfaces

Their incredible climbing ability isn't due to suction or sticky secretions but rather millions of microscopic hairs (setae) on their toe pads that create weak intermolecular attractions with surfaces, allowing them to cling to almost anything.
