The Black Mamba Is Africa's Longest Venomous Snake
Black mambas regularly grow to 2–3 meters in length, with some exceptional individuals reaching 4.5 meters (14.8 feet). This makes them the longest venomous snake in Africa and the second-longest in the world after the king cobra. Their impressive size allows them to raise the front third of their body off the ground and look a human in the eye when threatened.
